Robert "Dewey" Stone

Mr. Robert “Dewey” Stone, 76, of Harmony Church Road was born on June 24, 1939, and passed away Friday Morning May 6, 2016 at the Presbyterian Home of Hawfields. Dewey began his career at the Burlington Fire Department in 1960 and later joined the NC Forestry Service in Orange County. His long and productive career ended with his retirement in 1994 as a Special Projects Manager. In retirement he pursued hobbies as a farmer. A native of Alamance County, Dewey is preceded in death by his parents, Jackson “Jack” and Florence Stone and brothers, Jack and Richard Stone. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Annette Stone; daughter, Tammy Stone; son, Dewey “Robbie” Stone; grandson, Jacob Miskow; brother and sister in law, Jimmy and Juanita Stone; sisters, Patsy hancock, Peggy Boyer, and a large extended family of nieces, nephews, and their children. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday May 9, 2016 at the McClure Funeral Home Chapel in Mebane with the Dr. J. Mike Aheron officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home on Monday and other times at the residence of the family. The family would like to express their gratitude and appreciation to his caregivers, Ms. Patricia Riley and Jeanette Rowland, along with Reyvonna Hampton, Diana Williams, faculty and staff at the Presbyterian Home of Hawfields. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance/Caswell at 918 Chapel Hill Rd. Burlington, NC 27215.
