Roger Sykes, Sr.

Roger Lee Sykes, Sr., 79, of Mebane passed away Sunday, January 10, 2021. He was a native of Durham County, retired from the textile industry and a US Army Veteran. He was the son of the late Pap Sykes and the late Vera Sykes Freeland and was married to thew late Mattie Sue Walker Sykes. He was also preceded in death by sons, Roger Lee Sykes, Jr., Ricky Dark Perry; daughters, Penny Darlene Sykes, Peggy Sue Sykes; sister, Betty Jean Dorsett; grandchildren Joseph Calvin Sykes & Ricky Dark Brooks.

He is survived by his daughter, Christy Sykes (Johnny) of Newton; son, David Perry (Janet) of Graham; daughter in law, Dale Perry of Burlington; grandchildren, Melissa Haith (Thad), David Perry, II (Jessica), Crystal Bunn (Timothy), Jonathan Stollard, Brandon Perry, Tesla Sykes, Nicholas Perry & JJ Rippy; 19 great grandchildren; sister, Judy Farrar of Graham & brother, Tommy Freeland of South Carolina
