Ronald Allen Mayo, known affectionately as Ron to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on November 11, 2025, at The Oaks of Alamance. Born on April 4, 1952, in Alamance Co., North Carolina, Ron's gentle demeanor and steadfast presence touched the lives of many throughout his 73 years. Ron's early life in Alamance Co. was filled with the love and guidance of his parents, William Earl Mayo and Jean Baum Mayo, who preceded him in death, as did his cherished wife, Donna Jones Mayo. His family was the cornerstone of his life, and he is survived by his devoted children, daughter Lela E. Rhodes and her husband Garrett, and son Christopher A. Mayo and his wife Kate. His joy was multiplied with the birth of his grandson, Jaxon Richards, who will carry forward his grandfather's legacy of kindness. Ron's sister, Susan Minton, and her husband Mike, his brother Gary Mayo, and his nieces Holli, Laurin, and Lindsi will fondly remember his quiet strength and unwavering support. Ron's professional life was marked by his meticulous work as a computer programmer for the US Government. His analytical mind and attention to detail served him well in his career, and his contributions were highly valued by his colleagues and the community he served. Ron's faith played a significant role in his life as a dedicated member of Alamance Lutheran Church, where he practiced his Christian beliefs with humility and grace. Beyond his professional and spiritual commitments, Ron was a man of diverse interests and passions. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, always ready to lend a helping hand or a listening ear. An avid sports fan, Ron's enthusiasm for his favorite teams—the Atlanta Braves, Kansas City Chiefs, Missouri Tigers, and the NC State Wolfpack—was infectious. He cherished the moments spent cheering on his teams, whether from the stands or the comfort of his living room. Ron's love for entertainment was evident in his fondness for westerns, Perry Mason, the original Batman series with Adam West, and superhero movies and cooking shows. However, his greatest pleasure was found in the tranquility of watching golf, a pastime that brought him immense relaxation and joy. Over the years, Ron and his late wife Donna shared a love for travel, embarking on memorable trips and cruises, and enjoying their shared hobby of bowling. Ron will forever be remembered as the strong, silent type, a pillar of reliability and support for those fortunate enough to have known him. His legacy is one of love, dedication, and the quiet assurance that he would always be there when needed. Ron's memory will be cherished and kept alive in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who were graced by his presence. He will be deeply missed, but the impact of his gentle spirit will continue to resonate for generations to come. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday November 15, 2025, at the Alamance Lutheran Church with the Pastor Aaron Spangler officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alamance Lutheran Church at 4008 NC HWY 62, Alamance, NC 27201 or to the PGA Hope at www.carolinas.pga.com. McClure Funeral Home in Graham is assisting the family.
