Ronnie Wayne Sanford

Ronnie Wayne Sanford of Mebane passed away on September 20, 2023. He was born in Durham on July 6, 1952 to the late Oscar Newman Sanford and the late Mary Roberts Sanford. He is survived by his wife of nearly 42 years, Susie Bullard Sanford, his children, Clark and Elizabeth Sanford, and his sister, Jane O’Briant. He was a proud graduate of Lees-McRae Junior College, where he was a member of the Order of the Tower Honor Society, and a graduate of Appalachian State University where he earned his bachelor's degree. He began his working life as a social worker for the NC Division of Services for the Blind for four years. He went on to a successful 38-year career as a manufacturer’s rep and regional director of sales for Redmond Homes and Fleetwood Homes. Ronnie was a member of Mebane United Methodist Church for over 40 years where, at various times, he was active in United Methodist Men and served as chairperson of the Staff-Parish Relations committee. He was an avid walker, loved yard work, and enjoyed attending the Talladega NASCAR race with his college friends. He had a lifelong love of the North Carolina mountains and was a diehard Duke fan. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, September 30 at Mebane United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to CurePSP or to Mebane United Methodist Church.
