Roy Edwards

Mr. Roy Hubert Edwards, 91, of Old Greensboro Rd. Chapel Hill, NC, passed away on Monday December 11, 2017 at his residence. A native of Orange County, NC, he was the son of the late Johnny and Ola Edwards. He was retired from the A & P with 24 years in the produce department. He was a lifelong member of Orange Chapel United Methodist Church and was an active member of Gideon International. He was a proud veteran of the US Amy serving during WWII. Survivors include his daughter, Sandra Sturdivant, of Chapel Hill; granddaughter, Stephanie Welch and husband Derrick, of Chapel Hill; grandson, Justin Sturdivant, of Chapel Hill; great granddaughter, Olivia Welch, of Chapel Hill; sister, Clarene E. Rogers, of Chapel Hill, and many loving nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 64 years, Rachel Smith Edwards; and brothers, Walter James and Tunney Edwards. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday December 14, 2017 at the Orange Chapel UMC with the Pastors Jeanne Neal and Carl Belcher officiating. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 PM on Wednesday December 13, 2017 at the McClure Funeral Home in Graham and other times at the residence of the family.
