Ruby Jean East Hargis

Mrs. Ruby Jean East Hargis, 68, of Burlington, NC, passed away on Monday November 6, 2017 at her residence. A native of Randolph County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Vester Monroe and Thelma Vestal East, who survives. She married Edgar Wayne Hargis, the love of her life on August 15, 1970. She had recently retired from LabCorp with 18 years of service in the AR Department. Her love was her grandchildren and cooking BBQ with her husband as team “Smokin’ Porkers” which they competed in the North Carolina State Cook-off this year. She had volunteered for 30 plus years with the Western Alamance Band (WAZBB) that she loved and cared about so deeply. She was known for being a loving person always putting others above herself. Survivors include her husband of 47 years, Edgar Wayne Hargis; daughters, Janet East Loflin and husband William and Glinda Hargis Fleming and husband Kenny; sons, Bruce East Sr. and Danny Hargis; mother, Thelma Vestal East; 10 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; sister, Alice Chavis; brother, Charles East and wife Beverly; aunt, Betty Hudson and many loving nieces and nephews. In addition to her father, she is preceded in death by brothers, James and Richard East. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday November 11, 2017 at the McClure Funeral Home Chapel in Graham with the Pastor Ken Smith officiating. The family will receive friends following the service on Saturday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the WAZBB at 1731 N North Carolina Hwy 87, Elon, NC 27244.
