Born to parents John Auman Alvis, Jr. and Bonnie Glasgow Alvis in 1973 and born into new life at 16 years of age, Russell “Russ” Lynn Alvis joined his Savior Jesus Christ on March 19, 2026, after an extended illness. Russ was preceded in death by his parents as well as grandparents John Auman Alvis, Sr. and Frances Gallimore Alvis, and Raymond Johnson Glasgow and Annie Moore Glasgow. He is survived by wife Jeanette Ray Alvis and sons Tristan and Jonathan; brothers Rodney Alvis (Laura) and Ronnie Alvis (Nancy); and many (many!) aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, church family, and friends.
Russ modeled generosity with his time, talents, and treasure. He loved serving at church and around the country and world; helping friends, neighbors, and others whenever he could; making memories with family; and having fun at local lakes. In his youth, countless happy days were spent playing football or waterskiing. He served in the U.S. Army National Guard Reserve for eight years and earned degrees in Accounting and Religious Studies.
The family was assisted by Duke Home Hospice and is now being assisted by McClure Funeral Service in Mebane. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Missions Fund at Crosslink Church-Mebane at 3445 Old Hillsborough Road, Mebane, NC 27302 to further the sharing of the Good News of our Savior Jesus Christ.
