Russell Ernest Mcgee

Russell Ernest McGee, 63, of Mebane, North Carolina passed away unexpectedly on January 26th 2023. He is survived by his daughter Rachel Ann McGee and special buddy, Lucas Briggs. He is also survived by his sisters Priscilla Dollar, Judy Perry and Mickie Dion. He was preceded in death by his father, Walter Ernest McGee and his mother Virginia Ray McGee. Russell graduated from Eastern High School in 1977 where he was on the football and tennis teams. He continued his education at ACC where he worked toward his career as a machinist. He retired from Altech Tools where he worked as a machinist with his best friend and boss, Ricky Francis.  Russell was an entrepreneur from an early age. He worked at the Hillsborough cow sales where he went with his dad and grandfather. He raised cows and horses with his dad. He was a machinist at Cone Mills. He was a long haul trucker and Uber driver for a short time. He dabbled in stocks and owned a mobile home park. Russell was a man of many layers he had a heart of gold as evidenced by his love and devotion to his mom in her later years. He was his dad's shadow growing up. His kindness was evident when his friend Lucas, 5 years old, would ask him to go with him to hunt bugs. But his love was for his daughter, Rachel. She was his heart. His interests were many. He was always learning and was a human book of knowledge. He was a history buff, a news junkie, a lover of chocolate and a connoisseur of old movies. He loved to travel and was excited about the possibility of returning to live in the Philippines with his beloved extended family. Russell left us too early and will be missed by family and friends. He was loved and respected by so many. Russell, we love you and "say hey to Goober."
