Ruth Martin

Ruth Alene Modlin Martin, passed away peacefully on April 2, 2025, at the age of 88. Born on June 27, 1936, Ruth's life was marked by her unwavering kindness, her love for her family, and her dedication to her faith and community.

Ruth is survived by her loving husband, Allie Martin of 68 years, with whom she shared a beautiful and enduring partnership. Together, they raised two sons, Greg Martin and his wife Susan, and Kenny Martin and his partner, Tommy. Ruth's legacy of love and care is also carried on by her sister, Vickie Modlin Lynch and her husband Tim, her cherished grandchildren, Phillip Martin and his wife Addison, and Ashley Martin Green and her husband Tyler, as well as her adored great-grandchildren, Josiah Green, Nolan Martin, Allie Mae Green, and Carson Paige Martin, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, Edward Paul and Ida Jane Jones Modlin, as well as her three brothers and three sisters. Known for her exceptional culinary skills, Ruth's cakes and pies were the highlight of many gatherings, especially for her church members at Eastside Baptist. Her love for cooking was only surpassed by her love for the children she cared for in the Hebron UMC nursery, as well as Eastside Baptist Church nursery. Ruth's gentle spirit and warm embrace made her a favorite among the little ones, who loved her just as much as she loved them.

A funeral service to Celebrate Ruth’s life will be held at 2pm on Monday, April 7, 2025 in the McClure Funeral Chapel in Mebane.  The family will receive friends on Monday at the funeral home from 1pm-2pm.   The burial will follow in Hebron Community Church Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to AuthoraCare Hospice, 914 Chapel Hill Rd.
