Sadie Loureen (Van Dyke) Fox

Sadie Loureen Van Dyke Fox, age 87, passed away peacefully on Tuesday June 2, 2020 at her residence in Mebane NC after an extended illness due to Congestive Heart Failure. She was born on September 26, 1932 in Henderson NC to the late David Louis & Ora Strum Van Dyke.

In addition to her parents, Sadie was also preceded in death by a sister, Louise Van Dyke Ayscue, and a son, Princeton Snead Fox. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, William (Bill) Heaton Fox of the home, daughter Angelette Fox (John Dee Wagner) of Mebane, son Slader Fox of Mebane and sister Bettie Van Dyke Sogor (Laszlo Sogor) of Cleveland Ohio. Sadie also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.

Sadie grew up in Henderson helping on the family farm. After high school, she opened her own business, The Remnant Shop, which sold fabric, thread and sewing notions. She moved to Burlington NC in 1952 where she worked as an Administrative Assistant at Western Electric. She married in 1958 and attended Elon College where she earned her Accounting Degree. She then opened her own bookkeeping service which afforded her the opportunity to stay home until her children were old enough to attend school. In 1975 she established Antique Country Unlimited (Antiques & New furniture) which she successfully owned and operated for approximately 38 years, until she retired at the age of 80. She was an expert seamstress, loved flowers, gardening and traveling.

A private family graveside service will be held at a later date.

The Family would also like to thank Happy Homecare Staffing of Efland NC for the care and assistance they provided in Sadie’s final days.
