Sandy grew up in Bingham, Maine where she enjoyed ice skating and sledding. This began her lifelong love of watching professional ice skating, especially during the Olympics. Her biggest thrill was meeting Nathan Chen.
Sandy married the love of her life on February 9, 1982. She and Ralph raised 6 children together in Snow Camp, North Carolina.
Sandy attended ACC and then UNCG where she earned degrees in Accounting and Business Administration. She did this while working and caring for her 6 children. She was most proud of her work as the SGA president at ACC during her time there.
Sandy was employed at Hunt Electric Supply Company for 25 years. She loved what she did and did not see her job there as work. She felt like she was part of a family.
Sandy loved creating floral arrangements and wreaths as well as cake decorating. She loved spending time with family and she was especially proud of her grandchildren. Giving was also close to her heart, and she didn’t hesitate to donate time, money or resources for mission opportunities both in her community and as far away as Guatemala.
Sandy was a member of First Baptist Church of Burlington for 35 years where she had previously taught bible study and children’s Sunday School. She also served on numerous committees at the church.
