Sandra "Sandy" Jean Saylor

December 22, 1964 — June 18, 2022

Graham

Sandra (Sandy) Jean Saylor age 57 of Graham, NC passed peacefully in her sleep on June 18, 2022.   She is the daughter of Ann Schanlaub.  She is survived by one brother, James Patterson of Virginia.  Sandy grew up in Bingham, Maine where she enjoyed ice skating and sledding.  This began her lifelong love of watching professional ice skating, especially during the Olympics.  Her biggest thrill was meeting Nathan Chen.

Sandy married the love of her life on February 9, 1982. She and Ralph raised 6 children together in Snow Camp, North Carolina.

Sandy attended ACC and then UNCG where she earned degrees in Accounting and Business Administration.  She did this while working and caring for her 6 children.  She was most proud of her work as the SGA president at ACC during her time there.

Sandy was employed at Hunt Electric Supply Company for 25 years. She loved what she did and did not see her job there as work.  She felt like she was part of a family.

Sandy loved creating floral arrangements and wreaths as well as cake decorating.  She loved spending time with family and she was especially proud of her grandchildren.  Giving was also close to her heart, and she didn’t hesitate to donate time, money or resources for mission opportunities both in her community and as far away as Guatemala.

Sandy was a member of First Baptist Church of Burlington for 35 years where she had previously taught bible study and children’s Sunday School.  She also served on numerous committees at the church.

Sandy is survived by her husband Ralph Saylor, her mother Ann Schanlaub and her brother James Patterson.  She is also survived by her children Christine Landess (Brad Landess), Jason Saylor, Ruthanne Saylor, Joshua Saylor (Charles Crowe), Monica Gabriel (Ryan Gabriel) and Benjamin Saylor.  She is also survived by her grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her father John Schanlaub.

A Celebration of Life will be held on July 16, 2022 at 2:00 at McClure Funeral Home in Graham, NC.  A visitation time will follow.
