Mebane Sarah Elsie Isley James, 84, of Mebane died Thursday, April 14, 2016 at her residence. She was a native of Alamance County, retired from the textile industry and a member of Hawfields Presbyterian Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter Isley, Sr. & Mabel Rice Isley; brother, James Walter Isley, Jr. ; sisters in law Peggy Isley, Nancy Miller, Jean Foust; brother in law, Henry Pope. She is survived by her husband, Billy James of the home; son, Roger James & Melissa of Mebane; daughter, Elaine Penny & Duff of Efland; grandchildren, Emma James, Sarah Ellie Penny & Jackson Penny; Sister, Bessie Pope of Graham; brother, George Isley of Mebane and many nieces & nephews; aunt, Annie Mae Johnson and sisters in law, Linda Isley, Ann Crawford, Ruth Connor, Jane Talley, Margaret Downey and Mary Smith. A service to celebrate her life will be 2:30 PM Sunday at Hawfields Presbyterian Church by Pastor David Ely. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery with a repass to follow in the fellowship hall. The family will receive friends at the church on Sunday from 1:30 – 2:30 before the service.
