Scotty "Jet" Watkins

GIBSONVILLE - Mr. Scotty "Jet" Watkins of 713 Ellen Drive, died at his home Monday, July 27, 2015, after a sudden heart attack. He was born in Alamance County, graduated from Eastern Alamance High School, earned his Bachelor's Degree in Aviation Science, loved the outdoors, was avid Tar Heels fan, Boy Scout Leader, a member of St. Marks Church, was proud of his "2011 Face In Space", served his country in the U.S. Air Force as a jet mechanic, was employed with General Electric for 27 years, enjoyed NASCAR and was a member of the Occaneechi Band of Saponi. He was preceded in death by his father, Renaldo "Whitey" Watkins. He is survived by his mother, Shirley Watkins, of Burlington; sister, Patty Watkins of Burlington; fiancée, Tara Barker of the home; sons, Justin Doss, Latney "Bubba" Thornton; daughter, Layla Thornton; grandson, Jaxx Doss; brother-in-law, Sean Bostwick. The family will receive friends at the McClure Funeral and Cremation Service in Graham on Thursday evening, July 30, 2015, from 6 until 8. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday. July 31, 2015. in the McClure Chapel officiated by the Rev. Gary Williams. Burial will follow in Alamance Memorial Park with Military Honors.
