It is with heavy hearts and fond memories that we announce the passing of Shannon Wayne Peace 43, of Burlington on January 24, 2026 with his loving family by his side. Born in Orange Co., NC, on January 6, 1983, Shannon grew to become a beloved father, son, brother, and friend. Shannon spent his formative years in the vibrant communities of North Carolina, attending Graham High School and finishing at Eastern Alamance High School. His early life was full of camaraderie and adventure, laying the foundation for his outgoing personality and zest for life. He went on to dedicate much of his professional career to serving various local government sectors including the City of Greensboro, City of Burlington, Town of Gibsonville, and finally, the Alamance Co. Recreation and Parks Department. His commitment to public service was evident in the diligence and passion he brought to his work every day. Shannon was a man of many interests, but perhaps he is most fondly remembered for his love for athletics and the performing arts. As an avid Carolina Tar Heel fan, his enthusiasm for his team was infectious. He also brought his competitive spirit to the softball fields, where he not only played in the Burlington league for many years but also mentored young athletes as a coach. His legacy there is encapsulated in the laughter of the children he trained and the respect of the adults he played alongside. Beyond his sportsmanship, Shannon's theatrical inclinations led him to volunteer at various local haunts, including the Woods of Terror and the Spooky Woods. His joy lay in crafting unforgettable spooky experiences for children, delighting in their shrieks and smiles. These contributions enriched the community spirit every Halloween and etched lasting memories in the hearts of many. Family was the cornerstone of Shannon's life. He is survived by his adoring daughter, Haley Peace and fiancé, Kevin Boyd , who inherited his quick wit and contagious joy. Shannon's mother, Pamela Hewett Peace and fiancé Roger Wrenn, and his sister Tonya Faucette, along with her husband Rick, will cherish his memory and celebrate the times they shared. His grandmother, Barbara Harrah, Aunts Debbie Jones and Penny Gentry, alongside their husbands Mike and Ronnie, remember Shannon as a beacon of light in the family. Their lives have been forever brightened by his spirit. Shannon now joins his father, Jerry Wayne Peace, and his grandfather, Marvin Hewett, along with other cherished grandparents, in eternal peace. His kindness, generosity, and the love he gave unreservedly to others forged an indelible impact that resiliently persists. In life, Shannon never met a stranger. His innate ability to connect with others, to both give and receive kindness, defined his existence. He was a man whose selfless heart understood that life's true richness lies in the relationships we nurture and the time we spend with each other. To have known Shannon was to know a man devoted to his family, friends, and community. His legacy endures, not in the silence of sorrow, but in the echoes of the joyous memories he leaves behind. He will be deeply missed, yet those who loved him will continue to honor his vibrant spirit by living life to the fullest, as Shannon did every day.
A funeral service will be held at 5:00 PM on Wednesday February 4 2026, at the McClure Funeral Home Chapel in Graham with the Pastor Steve Pruitt officiating. The family will receive friends following the service on Saturday at the funeral home and other times at the residence of his mother.
