Sherry Wiggington

Sherry Massey Wiggington, age 75, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on February 21, 2025. She passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by family and loved ones. A beloved late wife, “Mama” of two, and “Maw Maw” to many, Sherry was known for her unwavering faith, her dedication to her family, and her unconditional love and servant’s heart towards all.

Sherry’s life was marked by many cherished qualities. She never met a stranger, and as soon as you walked through her front door, you became family too. She had a knack for bringing any plant or flower back to life and was known to be the baker of the family, making cakes from scratch that were unmatched. She could mend anything you needed, from clothes, to her dog’s toys, to her grandchildrens’ blankets. She had a love for snowmen and all things Christmas, and Christmas Eve games and celebrations down “Maw Maw’s house” were looked forward to year round.

Sherry was preceded in death by her parents Clarence “Ray” Massey and Stella Brummit Massey, her sister Sandra Massey Robertson, and the love of her life, Leonard Mason Wiggington. Surviving are her sister Susan Massey Watkins; son Leonard “Ray” Wiggington and daughter Tina Wiggington Brown; grandchildren Jessica Wiggington and significant other Michael Pollard; Daniel Brown and wife Avery Brown; Dakota Houston and husband Jonathan Houston; and Wesley Wiggington. She also leaves behind three great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.

The family will receive loved ones and friends at McClure Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 25 from 6pm-8pm. A celebration of life will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, February 26 at 2pm. Following the funeral services, Sherry will be brought home and laid to rest beside her Mason at a brief graveside service. All are welcome to attend. Location: 2456 Ray Massey Trail, Burlington NC.
