Shirley Laws

Shirley Laws, 70, passed away at UNC Hospital on January 16, 2021.  She was born in Cocke County, TN to the late Fred and Opal Laws. She attended Gibsonville and Western Alamance High School. Shirley enjoyed taking trips to the beach and mountains. She also enjoyed tending to her flowers and making Sunday dinner for the family from her beloved homemade recipes. Shirley was a devoted wife, mother, sister and Maw-Maw. She will be remembered most by her humble spirit, infectious smile and warm heart.

Survivors include her husband, Roger Birchett; son, David King (Tyra); step daughters, Carol Rice (Doc), Rene Smith (Philip); brother, Faribea Laws (Kim); sisters, Sylvia Boone (Steve), Joann Yearwood(Ray), Mary Bivins and Zella Poole (Mitchell); grandchildren, Taylor, Hunter and Hayley King, Ryan McCabe, Cory Smith (Dawnn) and Kirsten Whitley (Aaron); great grandchildren, Amelia Wagner, Henry and Austin Smith and Oliver Whitley.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday January 23, 2021 at Oakwood Cemetery in Mebane at 11am.   The public can pay respect to Shirley on Friday January 22, 2021 from 9am-5pm at McClure Funeral Service in Mebane.
