Shirley Parker Watkins

Mrs. Shirley Parker Watkins 87, of Burlington, NC passed away on April 26, 2024 at the Alamance Regional Medical Center in Burlington. A Native of Alamance Co. NC, she was the daughter of the late Carl V. “Dove” and Margie Day Parker and the wife of the late Renaldo Watkins. She was a member of Beacon Baptist Church where she loved the Lord and her Church family. She knew the Bible in and out and could recite any scripture asked. She retired with 50 years of service from Alamance Regional Medical Center, retiring as Nursing Supervisor. She was an avid North Carolina Tar Heel fan and loved being a part of a bowling league, cross stitching, and crocheting. She was a proud member of the Occaneechi Band of the Saponi Nation. Survivors include her loving daughter, Patty Watkins; her great grandchildren, Jamison and Jaxx Doss; and her many loving nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Scotty Watkins; a grandson, Justin Doss; her sisters, Thelma Jeffries and Margaret Russell; and her brothers, Elton, Clay, Macon, Harold, Hannie, and Edward Farley Parker. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday May 7, 2024 at Beacon Baptist Church with the Pastor Robert LaTour officiating. Burial will follow alongside her husband at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 Until 8:00 PM on Monday May 6, 2024 at McClure Funeral Home in Graham.
