Mr. Sidney Cecil “Sid” Johnson Jr. 87, of Graham, NC passed away on February 6, 2023 at the Alamance Regional Medical Center in Burlington. A native of Alamance Co. NC, he was the son of the late Sidney Sr. and Lila Ruth McDaniel Johnson. Sid was retired from Sloan Paper Company with numerous years of service and he was a member of Historic Providence Christian Church. Sid had a license to fly Hot Air Balloons which he enjoyed so much and was an avid lover of classic cars. Sid was a family man and was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to everyone. Sid was known to be a selfless man who always put others needs above his own but as much as he enjoyed helping others, nothing put a smile on his face like his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Survivors include his wife, Jeanette Jones Andrews Johnson; his loving daughters, Mary Ann Johnson and husband Tom, Cynthia LaRue Phillips and husband Dean and Ginger Andrews Bass and husband Sam; his many loving grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Sid was preceded in death by his wife Phyllis Marcella Johnson; his loving daughter, Sharon Kaye Atcheson, and his 5 beloved sisters. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday February 9, 2023 at the McClure Funeral Home Chapel in Graham with the Pastor Daryl Peebles and his grandson, Pastor James Aaron West officiating. Burial will follow alongside his wife Phyllis at Hawfields Presbyterian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the funeral home and other times at the residence of the family.
