Steven Howard Payne

Steven Howard Payne, 68, of Burlington passed away Saturday, February 8, 2025 at his residence surrounded by his family and friends. Steven was born in Alamance County. He was retired from UNC Maintenance and was a member of Belmont Methodist Church. He was also a member of the “Sons of the Confederate Veterans, “SVC”.

Steven is survived by:  Wife, Pegge Baise Payne, Daughter, Stephanie Payne Webb (Jeremy)  Pegge’s Children, Dawn Martin (Greg), Bradley Thomas, and Grey Thomas (Tiffany). Grandchildren, Lennox Thomas and Myers Webb. Mother, Colleen Barnes Payne. Brothers, David Payne (Christopher Vann), Mark Payne (Pam). Sister- Cousin, Lisa Lightcapp (Jeff). Nephew, Tyler Payne. Fur baby, Taz.

Steven was preceded in death by: Father, William Howard Payne. Aunt and uncle, J.B. Wright and Hazel Wright. Fur baby Prissy.

The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 Thursday evening at the Funeral Home.  Memorial service will be Friday, February 14, 2025 at 2:00 PM in the McClure Funeral Home Chapel in Graham. Officiating will be Rev. Flip Wilson.

The family would like to thank the Hospice Staff and the Cancer Center staff for their loving care Steven received during his illness.
