Suellen "Sue" Hensley Cox

Mrs. Suellen “Sue” Hensley Cox, 77, of Burlington died January 12, 2017 at Alamance Regional Medical Center. Born April 18, 1939 in Alamance County, she was a daughter of the late Jesse Banner and Lucy Jarrett Hensley. She was raised in Alamance County, and was employed in the textile industry, retiring from Burlington Leather Works. She was a long time member of Friendship Baptist Church. Mrs. Cox enjoyed crocheting, art and coloring, working crosswords and puzzles. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren, and loved to babysit. She is survived by her sons and their spouses, Rev. Craig Cox (Tammy) of Caswell, David Cox (Darlene) of Snow Camp, and Rev. Rodney Cox (Christina) of Southport; sister, Hilda “Polly” H. Cox of Burlington; brothers and their spouses, Howard L. Hensley (Gladys), Robert “Bobby” Hensley (Helen) and David Hensley (Glenna) all of Elon; grandchildren, Abigail, Noel, Annabell and Meuriel Cox, Hayle Cox, Cierra Allmond, Andy Cox, Rodney Cox, II, Ethan, Hannah and Josiah Cox; and a great-grandchild, Connor Pinyatello. She was preceded in death by her brothers, JB and Charles “Zip” Hensley; and sisters, Opal Lane and Judith Cannady. The funeral service for Mrs. Cox will be held at 1:00 pm Monday at McClure Funeral Home Chapel in Graham, with Pastor Chuck Perkins presiding. Interment will follow in Alamance Memorial Park. Friends may visit with the family from 3 – 5 pm Sunday afternoon at the funeral home, and at other times at the residence of Craig and Tammy Cox. Pallbearers will be Kenny Cox, Ethan Cox, Andy Cox, Rodney Cox II, Josiah Cox, Tony Hensley and Dwight Hensley.
