Sylvia Burwell

Sylvia Foster McAdams Burwell, 81, went to be with the Lord on, August 20, 2014. She is preceded in death by her husband, Nat Morton Burwell, daughter Cynthia Ann Burwell Kennedy, and her parents James R. and Estelle McAdams. She is survived by her son, James Morton Burwell and wife Sabrina Burwell, granddaughter Kasey Burwell and two step-granddaughters Jocelyn Riebe and Brigette R. Edmonds (Drew), two brothers, James Richard “Dickie” McAdams (Linda) and Keith Eugene McAdams (Beverly), and several special nieces and nephews. Sylvia was a native of Graham, NC, and a graduate of Graham High School, where she participated in the Chorus, Cheerleading and antics. She enjoyed going to Myrtle Beach and participating in “Dance Contests” and she was a contestant in the Miss Graham Pageant. She attended Elon College where she graduated with a Certificate in Secretarial Science and was the Assistant Clerk of Court. Sylvia moved with Nat to Eau Gallie, Florida in 1958; where they raised their children and spent the majority of their lives, “Living the Good Life.” She was a homemaker and the “World’s Best Cook.” Sylvia brought many hours of entertainment to her family and will be missed every day. A memorial service will be conducted on Wednesday August 27th, 2014 at 1:00 at McClure Funeral Home Chapel in Graham, NC. Officiating will be Mr. Rowen Grant. Burial will follow in Linwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at McClure Funeral Service, 1030 S. Main St., Graham, NC 27253. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Hospice Home and Palliative Care Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Rd., Burlington, NC 27215.
