Thelma Ruth Thomas

MEBANE - Mrs. Thelma Ruth Rhinehart Thomas, 85, of Mebane, passed away Friday April 11, 2014 after a sudden illness at Alamance Regional Medical Center in Burlington. She was a native of Paris, Arkansas and she was the daughter of the late John Henry Rhinehart and Ellen Griffith Rhinehart. She was a member of Breakthrough Community Church and was a Christian her entire life. Survivors include her daughters, Judy Poague and husband Joe, of Efland, NC and Deborah Doria and husband Fred, of Mebane; sons, Dwayne Thomas and wife Teresa, of Houston Texas, and Dwight Thomas and wife Lynn, of Efland, NC; sisters, Ella Mae Stewart, of Paris, AR and Virginia Dale Hegarty, of Pickney, MI; grandchildren, Jason Thomas, Jeffrey Poague, Ryan Poague, and Jennifer Murphy; great grandchildren, Alexa Murphy, Autumn Moon, Ashley Moon, Haley Thomas, and Seth Thomas; great great grandchild, Luke Yankle. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, John Bascomb Thomas; granddaughter, Heather Moon, sisters, Margie Ularte, Frances Cauthren, and Juanita Griffith, brother, Lindell Rhinehart. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 on Wednesday April 16, 2014 at the McClure Funeral Home Chapel in Mebane with the Dr. Wayne Miller officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 PM on Tuesday April 15, 2014 at the McClure Funeral Home in Mebane. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff and nurses of the Homeplace in Burlington for their love and care while Mrs. Thomas was a resident.
