Timothy Allen

June 2, 1954 — January 26, 2022

Graham

Timothy Allen, 67, of Swepsonville, North Carolina, passed away on Wednesday, January 26, 2022, after a sudden illness, with his wife Patty by his side.

Tim was born on June 2, 1954, to Joseph Clyde and Marie Allen in Batavia, New York. After graduating from Batavia High School, he went on to serve in the US Navy for six years.  He worked at UNC Chapel Hill for 24 years, retiring in April 2021.

Tim met the love of his life, Patty, and they wed on December 24, 2014.  Together they enjoyed amazing vacations and had exciting adventures.  They were known to plan their next vacation, while still on vacation.

Tim was a force of nature, determined to provide for his family and give them the life he felt they deserved. His family, immediate and extended, meant more to him than anything else in the world, something he often mentioned.  His greatest joys were first being called “Dad” and then even more so “Paw Paw.”

Anyone who knew Tim knew that he was the most loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, a family could ask for.  His door was always open and taking in anyone who needed a hand up. Whether they needed a place to stay, food to eat, or a good lecture on why employment is necessary.

Tim was also an avid Panthers football fan, despite several disappointing seasons.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Allen; children Elizabeth “Liz” Allen (Wen Ping Jea “Jay”) and Isaiah Allen (Whitney); grandchildren, Azure Jea and Wyatt Allen; siblings, Clyde Allen, Mary Baxter, Walter Allen, and John Allen; mother-in-law, Gladys McGhee; and a beloved nephew, Jakob Godfrey.

He is preceded in death by Joseph Clyde Allen (father), Marie Allen (mother), James “Jim” Allen (brother), Julius McGhee (father-in-law), James “Jim” Baxter (brother-in-law), Judy Allen (sister-in-law) and Jeanie Allen (sister-in-law).

The family will be receiving friends at McClure Funeral Home in Graham, NC, on Saturday, February 5, 2022, from 12 noon to 2pm, with funeral services starting at 2pm.  Graveside service will follow at the Graham Memorial Cemetery. Both services will be officiated by Reverend Samuel Oo.
