Trena Kay Mills

Trena “Kay” Mills, 66, of Graham, passed away on Thursday, October 29, 2026. She was born in Galax, Virginia, to the late Joseph and Virginia Mabe and was raised in the Baptist faith. Kay was a loving wife and devoted family woman who cherished the time she spent with those she loved. She especially enjoyed going out to eat with her family and making memories together. She shared 41 wonderful years with her beloved husband, whom she loved dearly. A mountain girl at heart, Kay always held a special love for the mountains and the beauty of the place she called home. She was a true homebody who enjoyed the simple pleasures in life, especially settling in to watch her favorite movies, with Lifetime movies being at the top of her list. Those who knew Kay will remember her as soft-spoken, sweet, and caring, with a stubborn streak that made her uniquely herself. She also had a special place in her heart for her beloved dogs, Teddy and Otis, who brought her much happiness and companionship. Kay will be deeply missed by her family and all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her. Her memory will forever be treasured in the hearts of those she leaves behind.

She is survived by her husband, William Mills; her daughters, Amanda Ashby, Kimberly Mills, and Chrissy Ashby; her grandchildren, Sierra Overman, Chandler Russell, Carmen Ashby, Kingston Ashby, Kahlanni Ashby, Gavin Reed, and Cameron Reed; and her great grandchild, Sareya Russell.

A service will be held to honor her life on Monday, November 2, 2026, beginning at 2:00pm at McClure Funeral Home in Graham. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service beginning at 1:00pm at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service at Mt. Hermon UMC Cemetery.
