Mr. Vance Vernell “Whistle” Albright Sr., 81, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday May 31st,2015, at his residence after a prolonged illness. Vernell was a member of Hebron United Methodist Church. His hobbies included fishing, hunting, and playing Rook. He was a former Mebane recreational football coach for many years. Vernell was enlisted in the U.S. Air Force where he served in Okinawa for four years. He is survived by his loving wife of what would have been 62 years on June 2nd- Betty Albright; daughters- Donna Albright, Sue Albright Anderson and husband Jeff, Kay Albright Shaver and husband Allen; son- Buster Albright and wife Lyn; grandchildren- Nicholas Gordon, Natalie Gordon, Yvette Newton and husband Adam, Brandon Albright and wife Jamie, Christopher Albright and wife Jaimie, Daniel Shaver, Jonathan Shaver, and Matt Hirst; Great Grandchildren- Nate, Zoë, Daniel, and Zachary. He was preceded in death by his parents- Virgil and Minnie Albright; brothers- Melvin Albright and Jesse Albright; and sister- Frances Albright Solomon. A service to celebrate his life will be conducted on Thursday June 4th at 3:00PM at Hebron United Methodist Church with Rev. Bryan Sexton officiating. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday June 3rd from 6 to 8 pm at McClure Funeral & Cremation Service in Mebane and other times at the residence. The family would like to thank all the staff of Hospice, but especially Holly, Joanna, Sandi, Sherry, and Stephanie. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Alamance-Caswell Hospice, 918 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, NC 27215.
