Velma Hines Dodson

BURLINGTON - Velma Jane Hines Dodson, 74, died Sunday, Nov. 29, 2015, at her residence.A native of Danville, Va., she was retired from the textile industry and of the Baptist faith.She was the daughter of the late Alberta Hines.She is survived by her children, Kenny Simpson of Graham, Willie Simpson and wife Wanda of Haw River, Janice Rogers and husband Ray of Haw River and Steve Simpson of Burlington; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by a son, Donald Simpson.A service to celebrate her life will be conducted at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2015, in the McClure Funeral Home Chapel in Graham by the Rev. Walter Jones. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 7 p.m. prior to the service and at other times at the residence of Willie Simpson, 118 Pelham Street, Haw River.
