Vera Richards Pittard

Vera Richards Pittard, 99, of Lenoir City, TN, formally of Mebane passed away Sunday, November 1, 2015 in Lenoir City, TN. Vera was born in Rustsburg, VA February 12, 1916. She was the wife of the late James Wells Pittard and was the daughter of the late Vance Garland and Ivel Richards. She was preceded in death by a sister, Virginia “Ginny” Richards and a brother, Harold Richards. Vera lived in Mebane most of her life and resided in Knoxville, TN the last nine years. She worked at the Mebane Clinic before becoming a mother and homemaker. She enjoyed working on the blood mobile, being a Pink Lady at Memorial Hospital and was an avid member of the Cedar Grove Quilters. After moving to Knoxville her life centered around her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was well loved by the staff at NHC and at Baptist Healthcare whom she considered her friends and family. Vera made lifelong friends in Mebane and always called it home. Survivors include two sisters: Vivian Mincey and Vonda Bean of Charlotte, NC Daughters: Nancy Pittard Webb and husband Rick, Knoxville TN Susan Taylor , Charlotte NC Five grandchildren: Melanie Schultz and husband Christopher, Kristy Hamilton and husband Tyler , Knoxville, TN Lindsay Taylor and Johnny Bunton, Boone, NC, Dylan and Whitney Taylor, Charlotte, NC Six great grandchildren: Matthew, Emma and Zachary Schultz, Alaina and Carsyn Hamilton, Knoxville, TN, Paige Bunton, Boone, NC A funeral service was held Wednesday, November 4, 2015 at 2:00 PM at the McClure Funeral Home Chapel in Mebane.
