Vernon Bunn Jr.

HAW RIVER - Vernon Bunn Jr. 87, of 607 Rolling Road, Haw River, died Thursday, June 20, 2013, at his residence. He was a native of Alamance County, a retired automotive machinist, a member of Haw River United Methodist Church, served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was a member of the American Legion Post 39 in Vero Beach, Florida Survivors include his wife; Nelmer Pendergraph Bunn of the home; daughters, Sharon Bunn Buckner and husband Steve of Kernersville, N.C. and Karen Johnson 0f Graham, N.C.; sons, Vernon Grayson Bunn and wife Patti of Vero Beach, Fla. and David Bunn and wife Josie of Fayetteville, N.C.; 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, the Rev. Paul Bunn and wife Dot of Hamlett, N.C.; stepson, Jimmy Rogers of Hillsborough, N.C. and stepdaughter; Linda Ann Warren of Haw River. He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon Bunn Sr. and Sarah Rebecca Swink Bunn; son, Tony Carson Bunn and sister; Mary Elizabeth Newlin. A Memorial Service celebrating Vernon's life will be held Saturday, June 22 at 2 p.m. at the Haw River United Methodist Church conducted by Pastor Jeanne Neal. The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall following the service, and at other times at the residence.
