Vickie Mitchell Bowers, 76, of Graham, passed away peacefully on March 13, 2026, in Alamance Co., NC—the very place she first graced the world with her presence on October 1, 1949. A devoted Christian and cherished member of The World of Pentecost, Vickie's unwavering faith and love for her church family knew no bounds, guiding her through a life filled with fervent worship and fellowship. Vickie's passion for her family shone brightest when she was surrounded by her beloved grandson, Aaron Yarboro, and his wife, Kelsey Jones. The joy she drew from her four great-grandchildren—Alexis, Skylar, Brooklyn, and Waylon—was immeasurable, as they were the twinkling stars in her sky, the reason her heart sang with happiness. Her sister, Kay Rackley, along with a host of other loving nieces, nephews, and cousins, will fondly remember Vickie's boundless love, supportive nature, and her heartfelt advice that often came served with a side of good humor. Home was the cornerstone of Vickie’s world—a sanctuary where love was woven into the very fabric of its walls, a testament to the adage ‘Home is where the heart is.’ Her presence filled her residence with warmth, transforming every corner into a repository of cherished memories and laughter. She possessed a rare talent for making the simplest moments magical. The loss of her parents, Wallace Wade Mitchell and Ollie Petty Bowers, as well as her adoptive parents, Ralph Woodrow Smith and Dillard P. Smith, and siblings Tilley, Loraine, Billie, and Dennis, preceded her departure from this earth. The memory of their shared bonds provided comfort and guidance throughout the years. Vickie also found pleasure in life's simple joys—like dining out with family and friends. These moments allowed her to celebrate the bonds she held dear while embracing the conviviality of good company and conversation. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday March 19, 2026 at the McClure Funeral Home Chapel in Graham with Pastor Kenny Godair officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Thursday. Burial will follow in Graham Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The World of Pentecost at 1935 Hanford Rd. Burlington, NC 27216.
