Virginia Rivers Norwood

Mrs. Virginia Rivers Norwood 85, of Graham, NC passed away on December 27, 2022 at UNC Hospital, Chapel Hill. A native of Warren Co. NC she was the daughter of the late Thomas Johns Rivers and Jennie Mae Wadell Rivers and the loving wife of the late Captain Edward Wayne Norwood who she loved and cherished so much. Virginia worked for numerous years at Randon Hosiery and retired from Flynt Fabrics. Over the years, she and Ed loved to travel to Florida to enjoy the sunshine and beaches but their trips to the mountains in the fall to see the leaves was always her favorite. She was a member of The World Of Pentecost where she loved her Church and Church family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend to many, and she was known for her kind heart and laughter but nothing put a smile on her face like her grandchildren. Survivors include, her loving daughters, Theresa Arnette and Brenda Murphy (Mitch); her grandchildren, Edward Brian Hurdle (Gina), April Scott (Barry), Shane Murphy, and Jonathan Murphy (Dana); her great grandchildren, Austin Hurdle (Lynsey), Alexis Hurdle (Norman), Sahir Murphy, Juel “JJ” Murphy, Jace Murphy, Brittany Reed, Brianna Reed, and Mykayla; her brother, Bobby Eugene Rivers (Sue) and many loving nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and her husband Ed, she was preceded in death by a sister, Betsy Crumpton; and her brothers, Charlie “Bo”, Raymond, and Mackie Rivers. A funeral service will be held at 12:00 Noon on Friday December 30, 2022 at The World Of Pentecost with the Pastor Kenny Godair officiating. Burial will follow alongside her husband Ed in Linwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service on Friday at the Church and other times at the residence of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to her Church, The World Of Pentecost in Burlington, NC. McClure Funeral Service in Graham is assisting the family.
