BURLINGTON - Mrs. Virginia "Christy" Christine Shields Oakley, 61, of 5156 Friendship-Rock Creek Road, died at 6:03 a.m. Thursday, May 29, 2014. She was born in Forsyth County, N.C., was retired from Maitland-Smith Inc. and was a member of the Lawndale Baptist Church, Greensboro, N.C. Christy is survived by her sons, Jeffrey Daniel Denton and wife Deana of Burlington and Jordan Reid Denton of Raleigh; grandchild, Kensey Ariona Lunsford; parents, Harper and Virginia Shields of Burlington; sisters, Karen Shields Greeson and husband Kenneth of Burlington and Melea Shields Breashears of Graham; brother, Kevin Harper Shields and wife Lora of Burlington; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles; and a beloved dog, Maggie. The family will receive friends at McClure Funeral Home in Graham on Saturday, May 31, 2014, from 2 until 4 p.m., with the funeral service to be held in the McClure Chapel at 4 p.m. Officiating will be the Rev. Don Pegg. Burial will follow in the Antioch Baptist Church cemetery, Burlington, N.C. The family will also be receiving friends at the home of a son Jeffrey Daniel Denton, 5156 Friendship-Rock Creek Road, Burlington, NC 27215.
