Walter Yancey Christopher Sr.

MEBANE - Walter Yancey Christopher Sr., 78, of 408 N. Ninth St. in Mebane, died Saturday, Feb. 16, 2014, at Peak Resources of Alamance. He was a native of Orange County and retired from Luxfer Manufacturing with 25 years of service. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Irma Christopher; and siblings, James, George and Virginia. He is survived by his wife, Margaret Lane Christopher, of the home; son, Walter Yancey Christopher Jr and wife Janelle, of Burlington; daughter, Cindy Rudd and husband David, of Prospect Hill; stepchildren, Linda Pore, of Hillsborough, Daniel Lane, of Graham, David Lane and Tracy Lane, of the home; brother, Phil Christopher, of Burlington; and several grandchildren. A memorial service to celebrate Walter's life will be held 6 p.m. Tuesday at McClure Funeral Home Chapel in Graham conducted by the Revs. Deborah Perkins and James Christopher. The family will receive friends at the funeral home following the service and other times at his residence.
