Walter Pachnek

Walter Pachnek, 95, passed away on August 31, 2022 at Alamance Regional Hospital in Burlington, NC.  He was born on December 21, 1926 in North Bellmore, New York. He joined the United States Navy in December of 1943 and was assigned to the destroyer/escort U.S.S. Holland. He functioned as a water tender in the boiler room of the ship's engines. He was chosen as a member of World War ll Under Water Demolition Team, the predecessor to the Navy Seal Teams. The U.S.S. Holland provided wartime service in the Asiatic/ Pacific region and the Europe/ Africa/ Middle East area.  Walter Pachnek is survived by Son Kenneth Pachnek of Asheboro, NC; Kevin Pachnek of Holtwood, Pa.;Christopher Pachnek of Graham, NC; Granddaughter Jessica Pachnek of Newnan, Ga; Katarina Pachnek of Coral Springs, Fl; Kenleigh Pachnek of Dallas, Ga; Rianna Pachnek of Pompano Beach, Fl; Grandson Kevin Pachnek, Jr. of Bangor, Pa.; Steven Pachnek of Allbrightsville, Pa; Daughter-in-law Sarah Widmann of Asheboro, NC; Denise Digeronimo of Holtwood, Pa. and eight great grandchildren.
