Walter Smith

Walter Alexander Smith, 92, "aka Smitty or New" of Burlington passed away Sunday, December 17, 2017 at The Oaks of Alamance. Walter was a native of Danville, VA. He was a WWII Service Member. He was retired from Cone Mills and after retirement he worked for Winn Dixie. He was a former member of Swepsonville Baptist Church and was presently a member of Harvest Hills Church of God. Walter is survived by his family; Tonya and John Bowling of Gibsonville. Grandchildren; Bridgette and Lee of Graham and Jade; great-grandchildren; Heaven and Harrison. A memorial service will be held Thursday, December 21, 2017 at 7 p.m. at Harvest Hills Church of God, 3110 South Maple Ave., Burlington, NC 27215. Officiating will be Dr. Russell Morris. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the church prior to the service.
