Ward Leverne Setzer

Ward Leverne Setzer, 90, of Mebane, NC, joined his heavenly Father on February 16, 2023. Ward grew up in Caldwell County, NC and went on to join the Air Force and serve in the Korean War. After the war, he attended and graduated NC State University with a degree in Civil Engineering. He worked for many years in the commercial construction industry with various companies. In his spare time, he enjoyed waterskiing with his family and friends at Hyco Lake, spending time with his family, working in his yard and volunteering with his church’s InAsMuch service group, building ramps and other needs for fellow parishioners. He was a devoted Christian who is remembered for his kind and generous spirit.

Ward is survived by his wife of 68 years, Paula T. Setzer, his children, Stephanie Setzer Daniel and her husband, Woody, Chris Setzer, and his wife, Kim, Julie Setzer Carrow, and her husband, Steve as well as his grandchildren: Jason Rice, Logan Rice, Leanna Daniel Stuhlmiller, Jarrod Setzer, Chris Pope, Cam Carrow, Jack Carrow, Carter “CJ” Carrow, and great granddaughter, Savanna Rice as well as numerous beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Gladys Setzer, his brothers, Dennis Setzer and Jerry Setzer, and his sister, Norma Jean Setzer Puett.

The family will hold a memorial service on Sunday, February 19, 2023 at First Baptist Church of Mebane. There will be visitation with the family from 2-3 pm and the service will be at 3:00 pm.

They ask that any donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
