Rev. William "Bill" Alfred Rich

Reverend William “Bill” Alfred Rich, 95 of Burlington, NC passed away on Thursday November 26, 2020 at his residence. A native of Alamance Co. NC he was the son of the late McBride Holt and Roxie Bell Heritage Rich. Bill loved nothing more than his family as he was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to many. He was a devoted man of God as he lived what he preached. Bill was a Veteran of the US Navy, serving in WWII. He was a very patriotic man who loved his country dearly. He was a proud graduate of the School of Divinity at Duke University, graduating in 1952. For over 50 years, Bill preached at numerous places over Virginia and North Carolina. Bill loved to garden, plant flowers, and yard work as he just enjoyed being outside. He always enjoyed being with his wife and family, whether it was a trip to the beach, birthdays, Christmas or just any celebration or get together he always looked forward to it, but nothing put a smile on his face like his grandchildren did. Survivors include his loving daughters, Jeanette Pendergraph and husband Bob, Sybil Chinery, Denise Smith, and Emily Dudley and husband Richard; his 8 grandchildren, his many loving great grandchildren and his 6 great great grandchildren and the many loving nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Mary Frances Long Rich; sister, Althea Magrini; and brothers, Thomas and Kendall Rich. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday November 29, 2020 at Historic Providence Christian Church with the Pastors Gerald Saunders, Larry Lamberth and Darryl Peebles officiating. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery with Military Honors. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Sunday at the Church and other times at the residence of the family.
