William "Bill" Haywood Ham

MEBANE, N.C. - William ""Bill"" Haywood Ham, 85, of 10 Windsor Place, Mebane, NC 27302, passed away in the presence of family at Golden Living Center-Starmount, Greensboro N.C. on Monday, Oct. 21.Mr. Ham was the husband of the late Anna Sue Bowles Ham.He was a veteran of the United States Army serving with the 8th Army 9th Corps 424th Field Artillery Bn Btry A (Ables 8) during the Korean War, he was a retired machinist/problem solver with Western Electric, and was a member of Hebron United Methodist Church.Mr. Ham leaves behind two sons, Michael Ham and Donald Ham, both of Mebane; granddaughter, Heather Cole of Greensboro; and a brother, Richard Ham of Durham.Mr. Ham is preceded in death by his parents, Thadeus Overman Ham and Leonard Evelyn Riggs Ham; one daughter, Sheree Lynn Crawford; one brother and one sister. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 24 at McClure Funeral Home in Mebane, N.C. and at other times at the residence. Funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 25, in the McClure Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Wesley Hendrix officiating. Burial will follow in the Oakwood Cemetery in Mebane.
