William “Dennis” Hines

Mr. William “Dennis” Hines, 63, of Gibsonville, NC went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 16, 2025.  He was the son of the late William Clayton and JoAnn Metters Hines. Dennis was a beloved member of his community, known for his warmth, generosity, and infectious spirit. For many years, he volunteered his time, dressing up as various characters—Elf, Biloman, and Farmer Wiggly—bringing joy and laughter to the lives of countless children and adults alike. His ability to bring a smile to anyone he encountered was unmatched, and he never met a stranger. A passionate history buff, Dennis had a deep love for the past and was always eager to share his knowledge with those around him. He was not only known for his community involvement but for his immense kindness. He would truly give the shirt off his back to help someone in need. Dennis was a dedicated and loving husband, father, Paw Paw, and brother, always putting family first and sharing his love unconditionally.

Mr. Hines is preceded in death by his daughter, Danielle Hines; his granddaughter, MacKenzie O’Daniel; and Janet Yarborough (Mama Janet).

He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Sharon Hines; his son, William Hines (Shawney); his daughter, Brittany Hines; his grandchildren, Jedidiah O’Daniel, Landon O’Daniel, Sophia O’Daniel, Ava Siler, and Carson Hines; his sister, Maryann Hines; his sister in laws, Debbie Gerringer and Diane Gerringer;  his brother in law, Rickie Gerringer; and those special to his heart, Sheila Thompson (Mama Sheila), Joe Carson, Chef Michael Bolton, his goddaughter, Ashlee Miller, and his family at DaVita Kidney Center where they referred to him as governor.

A memorial service will be held to honor his life on Saturday, March 22, 2025, at McClure Funeral Home in Graham beginning at 1:00pm. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.
