William Todd Mitchell

William Todd Mitchell, 47, of Snow Camp, passed away on Saturday, February 3, 2018 from heart complications. Todd is survived by his wife of thirty years, Paula Ann Edwards Mitchell, their two children Ashley (Aury) McElhannon of Burlington and Matthew (Sierra) Mitchell of Greensboro. And his granddaughter, Alana McElhannon, who was his pride and joy. Nothing made him happier than spending time with her. He will be remembered by his father, Edward (Eddie) Mitchell of Burlington and his mother, Wanda Reyes of Burlington. His brother, Terry (Michelle) Mitchell of Burlington, his two sisters, Monica (Jon) Hicks of Burlington, and Tiffany (Daniel) Johnson of Elon. He had 2 aunts, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents William “Otis” and Pansy Stanley. Todd loved in a quiet way, almost shy way. He was definitely the ‘strong, silent’ type, but not quiet in his love for his family. Paula, Matt, Ashley, and of course, his granddaughter, Alana were his world. His connection with Alana was undeniable from the moment he held her for the first time. Todd himself still carried his own charming little boy smile. Todd was a stubborn and proud man in many ways. He was determined that the Dallas Cowboys were the best team in the NFL and proud of his NCSU Wolfpack, but he was stubborn in the best ways too. He lived his life the way he wanted, not how someone else wanted him to and there’s no greater accomplishment that any of us can hope for in life. When you remember Todd, you will undoubtedly remember Paula and Todd and the love he had for her. They were a paired set for most of their lives. In the evenings they would talk about the day’s events, play games, tease each other unmercifully, and always have a good time. Every night was date night for them. He was her rock and she softened the burly man that he was. Simply stated, he was the best husband, father and grandfather that anyone could ask for.
