Mr. William “Bill” Robert Ramsey, Jr. 73, of Burlington, NC, formerly of Graham, NC, passed away on November 11, 2024, at his residence. A native of Alamance Co. NC, he was the son of the late William “Bob” Robert Ramsey Sr., and June Loy Ramsey. Bill began his career in sales and opened U.S. Promotion, an advertising specialty company. He had a love for the land and after purchasing equipment for his new farm, he developed a love for “moving dirt” and began a second career, starting U.S. Grading. Bill was an avid outdoorsman and traveled all over North America hunting and enjoying God’s countryside. He loved the Lord and was a proud member of Kerrs Chapel Baptist Church. He served as a Deacon at Greenway Park Baptist and Kerrs Chapel Baptist Church. Bill loved his community and proudly served on the Anderson Volunteer Fire Department, where he retired as Chaplain and Lieutenant. Bill was a past City Councilman for the City of Graham and volunteered numerous years with the “Arts Around The Square” in downtown Graham and served as Chairman of the event. Bill was so very proud to be the “Crew Chief and Crew” for his son-in-law and grandson’s race team at Ace Speedway where so many wonderful memories were made. Bill was a man of strong principle and conviction. He always put the needs of others above his own and did what he had to do to support and love his family. Survivors include the love of his life, Sherry Chappell Ramsey; his daughter, Stephanie R. Wilburn and husband Mark; his son, Tripp Ramsey and wife Amanda; his loving grandchildren, Luke Wilburn, Matt Wilburn and Leah Ramsey; his sisters, Donna Ramsey Faust and Terry Ramsey Turman and husband Tim and loving nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Nathaniel Gray Ramsey and a nephew, Gray Ramsey. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday November 15, 2024 at Kerrs Chapel Baptist Church with the Pastor Paul Traywick officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service in the Church Fellowship Hall and other times at the residence of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Anderson Vol. Fire Dept at 225 Baynes Rd. Burlington, NC 27217 or to the Samaritans Purse at P.O. Box 3000, Boone, NC 28607. McClure Funeral Home in Graham is honored to serve the Ramsey family.
