William "Tom" Thomas Patterson

Mr. William Thomas “Tom” Patterson, 89, of Mebane, NC, passed away on Friday October 7, 2016 at his residence. A native of Orange County, NC, he was the son of the late Charles E. Sr. and Mary Fitch Patterson. Tom was a proud veteran of the US Air Force and US Army serving in WWII. He worked 30 years for Cone Mills and then later retired from General Electric. Tom was a man of God and a member of Mt. Zion Christian Church. Tom was always willing to put others before himself and had a big impact on many people’s lives. He was an avid mandolin player and a self-taught yodeler. Survivors include his daughters, Deborah Patterson, Stephanie Patterson Rose and husband Steve, and Kathryn Madren; sons, Gerald Madren and wife Tammy, and Daryl Madren; brothers, Eddie Patterson Jr. and Milton Patterson; many loving nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by past wife, Doris Baker Patterson; sisters, Catherine Neighbors, Audrey Summerell, Rachel Lankford, and Rebecca Parrish; brothers, Vance and Tyson Patterson. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday October 12, 2016 at the Mt. Zion Christian Church in Mebane with the Pastor Rick Webster officiating. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service on Wednesday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mt. Zion Christian Church at 3210 Mt. Zion Church Rd.
