Willie Thomasson

Willie George Thomasson, 82, went home to be with his parents, brothers, sister and his Lord and Savior on June 29, 2026

Willie was a native of Orange County and was the son of the late Lucy Williams Thomasson and Dana Ersell Thomasson. In addition to his mother and father, he also was preceded in death by his brothers James Thomasson and Carl Thomasson, and sister Frances Thomasson DuBois.

Willie lived in Greensboro most of his adult life. He began working at Cone Mills in Haw River and progressed to International Quality Control Director in the White Oak facility in Greensboro. During his forty years of service with Cone, he was able to travel the world and proudly represent his company.

When Willie wasn’t working, he enjoyed working in the yard, fishing, golfing, Nascar racing and spending time with his family. Willie loved his family deeply and was proud of their accomplishments.

Survivors include his wife, Margie Vanderford Thomasson of Greensboro, daughter, Tia Thomasson Sykes (Ronnie) of Snow Camp, son, Greg Thomasson (Amber) of Graham, grandchildren Taylor Whittington, Abigail Thomasson and Noah Thomasson.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation for the many acts of kindness shown during their time of loss.

A funeral service will be held at 11am on Friday, July 3, 2026 at McClure Funeral Service in Mebane.  The family receive friends from 10:00am-10:45am on Friday at the funeral home prior to the service.  Burial will follow in Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
