Mr. Woodrow Wilson Jolly, Jr. 90, of Mebane, NC passed away on November 22, 2023. Born in Durham Co. NC, he was the son of the late Woodrow Wilson Jolly, Sr. and Virginia Brooks Temple. Woodrow had a special love for buying and restoring old Oldsmobiles especially the 442’s. For over 20 years, he was involved in the drag racing circuit, racing at Piedmont and surrounding tracks. Woodrow had worked for many years with Western Electric and retiring from general Electric. He was a veteran of the US National Guard and a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Mebane where he and Betty for many years delivered food with the Meals on Wheels program through the church, as well as volunteering for numerous activities at the church. Woodrow was a man who had to stay busy, always tinkering with something around the house but he loved nothing more than to be waited on hand and foot by his wife, Betty. Survivors include his children, Randy Jolly (Vickie), Larry Jolly (Paulette), Cathy Martin, Cheryl Moore (Rick) and Jeff Jolly (Debbie); 7 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren; a brother, Tommy Temple (Kathy) and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Betty Medlin Jolly; 2 grandsons, Bryan Wilson Jolly and Kendall Ray Jolly; a step father, John Ernest Temple; and his brothers, Floyd and Ray Jolly. A funeral service will be held at 12:00 Noon on Wednesday November 29, 2023 at the First Baptist Church of Mebane with the Pastor Sammy Ballard officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church, and other times at the residence of the family. Burial will follow alongside his wife Betty in Oakwood cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund at 301 South Third St. Mebane, NC 27302. McClure Funeral Service in Mebane is assisting the family.
