Mrs. Wyona Dorothea Lambeth Johnson, 86, of 2805 Hayes Drive, Hillsborough, NC, was received by her Lord and Savior on October 10, 2016. Born in Guilford County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Robert Walter Lambeth and the late Nina Perkins Peterson. She was preceded in death by her husband Dwight Wellons Johnson Jr (DW). DW was a calming presence for her during trying times. He was her protector and comforter. Mrs. Johnson was a graduate of Alexander Schools Incorporated in Union Mills, North Carolina. Later in life, she worked at Erwin Cotton Mills which later became Burlington Industries, in Durham, NC. She was well-known for being a champion Chinese checker player and loved baking and sewing. She was a master canner and taught canning at the Durham County Agricultural Extension Service. Mrs. Johnson was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She adored her grandchildren, who called her Granny, and was never at a loss of words when asked about them. Mrs. Johnson never did anything half way. When a task needed to be done, she did it to perfection. Mrs. Johnson was also an avid reader, who encouraged her children in intellectual growth and exploration. Her son Mike attributes his love of history and learning to their frequent trips to the Durham library and to various historical sites. In additional to her parents and husband, Mrs.Johnson was also preceded in death by a brother, Robert Winfred Lambeth. She is survived by daughter Patsy Jean Johnson Oates and husband Ayden Jasper Oates Jr. of Fuquay Varina, NC a Son Robert Tyson Johnson and wife Karr Lynn of Leasburg, NC and Michael Andre Johnson and wife Donna, of Mebane, NC.
