Betty Ruth George Herring of Graham has gone home today on August 18, 2020. She was born September 2, 1938. Her celebration of life has been a great ride, and lots of accomplishments. Betty worked several jobs during her 82 years, she worked in Siler City at the chair factory, Sellers Manufacturing, Burlington Mill and Holt Hosery Mills for 30 plus years. She was also a Sunday School teacher for several years at Victory Chapel Wesleyan Church on Snow Camp Road. Betty loved to bake for friends and family, she and her daughter Shelby catered weddings and anniversaries for several years. Betty was also Cook of the Month for Burlington times news, and enjoyed the “celebrity” treatment she got from folks. She would get calls for several months after the article came out for cake orders, she stayed busy!
Betty and WL (Lawrence) were married for 52 years, they enjoyed going to the beach with his brother Alton and Maryellen Herring when they could. Mom and Dad owned Herring Auto Sales, dad sold the vehicles and mom was the notary and did all the paperwork!
Betty was an only child born to William Bill George and Grace Helen Cox George House both deceased. Married to William Lawrence (WL) Herring deceased. Betty had three daughters, Shelby H Mann (Bobby) of Graham, Bonnie Herring (Terry) of Siler City and Beverly Herring (Billy) of Graham. One grandchild Kelly Marie Mann (fiancé Dylan Rose) of Burlington. A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 21, 2020 at 3:00 PM in the McClure Funeral Home Chapel in Graham with the Pastor Larry Johnson and Pastor Noah Albarez officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:00 PM prior to the service on Friday at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service in Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family would like to express a special thank you to the staff at Hospice for their compassionate care.
