Mrs. Betty Jean Glosson Hite passed away peacefully Friday morning November 19th. 2021
at her home in Mebane, North Carolina.
Jean was the daughter of the late Daniel Warner Glosson and Nina Milded Baker. She was born in Durham, North Carolina on Tuesday, August 30th, 1932. Jean was of the Baptist faith and attended Carrboro Baptist Church during her childhood and teenage years. Jean later moved to Danville, Virginia where she married and raised her family.
Jean enjoyed her family and friends and was an avid reader and crafter.
She was the previous co-owner, with her sister Kitty Glosson Farrar, of Once Again Boutique in Mebane, NC.
Jean is survived by her soul mate of 35 years, William “Bill” Hinton Smith of the home. She is also survived by a sister, Carol Glosson Hayes ( Roger ); a daughter Karen Hite Coleman Mills of Danville, Virginia; a son Jeffrey Morrell Hite (Shirley Jo) of Danville, Va. and brother n' law Robert “Bob” Farrar of Mebane, NC. Also surviving are grandchildren Amanda Jo Coleman, Jeremy Daniel Coleman, Ashlyn Brook Mills, Jacob Thomas Mills, Sarah Jo Hite, Emily Christina Hite and great granddaughter Angela Dawn Coleman.
Jean is preceded in death by her 2 brothers, Charles Edward Glosson and spouse Jeanette Hackney, Robert Cliftord Glosson and spouse Paula Sturdivant and a sister Katherine “Kitty” Glosson Tudor Farrar; and former husband Palmer Morrell Hite. Jean will be sorely missed by her family and friends.
A graveside service is scheduled for Monday, 22 November 2021 at 2 PM in the Oakwood Cemetery
in Mebane, North Carolina. Reverend Sammy Ballard pastor of First Baptist Church in Mebane will conduct the services.
