Betty Jean (Walden) Welch

Betty Jean Walden Welch, 86, of Burlington, passed away March 6, 2023 at the Siler City Center long term care nursing facility.  She was a graduate of Williams High School and attended Alamance Community College.  Betty worked in the banking industry for over 40 years in customer service at Wachovia Bank and BB&T.  Aside from her career in banking, she also worked for the United Way of Alamance County and was the owner/operator of Pandora’s Box in Burlington.

Betty was a very proud grandmother and loved to spend time with her family and friends, especially during the holidays.  She loved celebrating the Christmas season and enjoyed decorating her home with unique holiday trees and decorations.  She was member of the Burlington Assembly of God. 

She was preceded in death by her mother, Estelle Hedgepeth Buff, of Burlington and her father, Richard Harold Walden, of Brights, Virginia. Surviving her are her two sons David Welch (Sherri) of Chapel Hill, NC and Stephen Welch (Crystal) of Wake Forest, NC; grandchildren, Meredith and Manning Welch of Chapel Hill, NC; Cameron and Reagan Welch of Burlington, NC; and Violet Worzella of Wake Forest, NC.

 

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, March 17, 2023 in the McClure Funeral Home Chapel in Graham. Officiating will be Rev. Darrell Moser. The family will receive friends at the funeral home following the memorial service.

 

Her family would like to thank the wonderful care team at Siler City Center, where Betty has lived since 2015.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Alzheimer’s Association of N.C. or to Hospice of Randolph.
