Captain Robert Allen Maness Obituary

Mr. Robert Allen Maness 52, of Graham passed away on November 13, 2022 at Duke University Medical Center in Durham surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer. Allen was born on September 11, 1970 to the late Robert Aster Maness and his mother who survives, Helen Irene Whisnatt Maness. Allen was a man of his community. He was retired with 30 years of service with the City of Graham Fire Department as Captain (Car 22). Allen was also retired from the Swepsonville Fire Department as a volunteer, retiring as Captain (184). Allen and his brother were best friends and for many years they operated Maness Tree Service in the Swepsonville community. Allen was known for always putting others needs above his own. He would never ask for help himself but was always the first to be there for friends, family or any stranger who was in need. His world and his love were his family and his furry sidekick, Emmie. His daughter was the light of his eye and he was so very proud of her. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, son, brother and friend to all. If you were ever in the Swepsonville area around Christmas, he would put up the old Living Christmas Tree just so it may bring some Christmas cheer to the community. Surviving is his wife of 30 years, Stephanie Loftis Maness; his loving daughter, Makayla Maness Scott and husband Colby; his brother, Doug Maness and wife Charla; his sisters, Rennie Thompson and husband Clay and Debbie Boggs; his father and mother in law, Richard and Ann Loftis; and his many loving nieces and nephews. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Johnny and Mallie Maness and Frank and Sally Whisnatt. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday November 17, 2022 at the McClure Funeral Home Chapel in Graham with the Pastor Kevin Bunn officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 PM on Wednesday November 16, 2022 at the McClure Funeral Home in Graham and other times at the residence of the family.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the NC Fallen Firefighters Foundation by visiting www.ncfff.org Online condolences may be offered at www.mcclurefuneralservice.net
