Catherine Holland

Mrs. Catherine Keefe Holland, age 94, of Mebane, NC, passed away on Saturday, October 27, 2018 at Duke Hospital after a brief illness. 

Born in Chicago, IL, she was the daughter of the late Francis Benjamin and Mary Anne Naughton Keefe and was married for 37 years to James

Joseph Holland, who passed in 1992. She was a Registered Nurse and Educator. She retired in 1984 from Hartford Hospital School of Nursing where she taught Maternal Child Health. She was an avid reader, loved musical theater, crossword puzzles, sewing, cooking, UCONN women's basketball and spending time with her family. 

She is survived by her six children, Mary Holland of Ledgewood, NJ, Joseph (Yvonne) Holland of San Diego, CA, Elizabeth (Michael) Williams of New Bern, NC, Andrew Holland of Greensboro, NC,

 Paula (Robert) Lee of Mebane, NC and Marita (Mark) Ferbrache of Guernsey, Great Britain: twelve grandchildren, Brett, Jamie, Kathleen, Kylie, Jared, Eric, Ryan, Erin, Kerry, Brendan, Ciaran and Rory; sisters, Patricia Lapping of Phoenix, AZ, June Staab of Harvard, IL and Margaret Bean of Bakersfield, MO.

She was preceded in death by her four brothers, William Robert, Daniel and James; and grandson James Joseph Holland II.

Her family is forever grateful to her neighbors and friends, Judy, Ed, Mary, Fred, Emma, Becky and Ginny who provided friendship and assistance on a daily basis. 

A visitation will be held Sunday, November 4, 2018 from 6-8 pm at McClure's Funeral Service in Mebane, NC.

A Service to celebrate her life will be held on Monday, November 5, 2018 at 10 am at Holy Family Catholic Church, Hillsborough, NC.
