Mrs. Christine Couch Thornton, 81 of Mebane, gained her wings at 9:04 p.m. Thursday, October 8, 2020 at Mose Cone Hospital after a two year battle with her health declining she spent her last 6 months in a critical state.
A native of Alamance County she was the wife of the late Mr. Earl Sexton Thornton, she was the daughter of Carrie & Eddie Couch both deceased. She is survived by one daughter Ms. Rhonda R. Thornton of the home, one brother Mr. Graham Couch (Ruby) of Asheboro. She worked in the hosiery mill throughout her early years, some years later she went to work for Biscuitville where she retired of 20 years. She was a Baptist and very strong in her faith, she shared a great love for her pets and her Tarheels.
Survivors other than her daughter of the home include one granddaughter Hilary R. Thornton, and three great-grandchildren Aaliyah R. Thornton, Noah C. Thornton, and TaMeisha A. Davis.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday Oct. 14 at McClure Funeral Home Chapel in Mebane by Pastor Dustin Perry. Burial will be in Hebron United Methodists Church cemetery.
The family will be at McClure Funeral Home in Mebane from 6 to 8 Tuesday Oct. 13. Due to Covid-19 the family asks that there be no home visits. However the family welcomes all other acts of kindness whether it be a phone call or a prayer it’s appreciated.
